Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,
First thing’s first…
If you’re in the UK or Ireland, don’t panic!
Mother’s Day is a little bit of a strange holiday, in that it’s celebrated on different days in different places. Here in Ireland it was back in March, yet across the US and various other countries, today’s the day for being thankful for the women who brought us into the world.
So if you’re on my side of the Atlantic and that header made you panic, you can relax now!
Of course, mothers play an extremely important role across history. Not just in the events themselves, but in keeping the knowledge of history alive, and passing things on from one generation to the next.
This is true with both the big things and the small: the local and even family traditions we keep are, after all, another link in the great chain of history.
So this week, we’re doing things just a little differently. Today’s quiz is based entirely on mothers from the history and mythology of the Classical world. Although, just to keep things on an even keel, one of these questions is based on an article published this week on Classical Wisdom. Can you tell which one?
If you want to check, our regular roundup of resources is included after the quiz, alongside all the answers.
