Dear Classical Wisdom Reader, Anyone who just happened on Classical Wisdom for the first time this week might conclude we are a bit morbid… after all, we’ve been discussing Death quite a bit in preparation for our upcoming event, taking place this Thursday, October 27th at Noon EST. I’ve heard from readers and subscribers, however, that the topic is ‘scary’. It is… that’s true. But that’s actually WHY we should be talking about it: If you haven’t registered already for this important conversation, make sure to do so HERE. Even if you can’t attend on the date, you will receive a recording afterwards and have the chance to win Professor Fontaine’s very readable translation of ‘Cicero’s’ Consolation. As for the rest of the week, we covered the tragic mythological flight of Icarus, the first female physician, Agnodice, as well as our mailbag question of the week: Do we invite jealousy? (Including a brief history of the ‘evil eye’). Members enjoyed an in depth article on the ancient people’s of Sardinia as well as our E-book, “The Death Anthology”. After all, whether it was the terrifying prospect of the underworld, the journey of our souls in the great hereafter, or even just taking time to alleviate our anxieties related to death, the classical authors had plenty to say about death and dying… Next week, I promise, we’ll be a bit chipper.
