This excerpt of Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll in the composer's own chamber music arrangement is a highlight from many rarities in the KammerMusikKöln's album The Wagner Project.

The recordings were made on the occasion of the “10+1” anniversary concert of the KammerMusikKöln ensemble and stood entirely under the motto of Richard Wagner, reflecting the desire to put on several of his works in arrangements for chamber music ensemble.

The album also features a true world première: Wagner’s rarely performed French Songs in an arrangement commissioned by the KammerMusikKöln from Simone Fontanelli and sung by soprano Katrin Zukowski. It is coupled with the second public performance of a further Fontanelli arrangement, commissioned again by the ensemble, of Wagner’s Wesendonck-Lieder. A further highlight is Engelbert Humperdinck’s almost entirely unknown arrangement of the prelude to Tristan und Isolde.
