Deutsche Grammophon continues the genre-defying project Fragments, an invitation from Deutsche Grammophon for thirteen leading electronic artists to respond to a single composer. With one single released each month, Fragments gradually builds over the course of a year.

FRAGMENTS – the album project celebrating music past and present by inviting some of today’s most innovative artists - goes into the second season by reworking the compositions of composer Lili Boulanger featuring Snorri Hallgrímsson with D’un vieux Jardin.

“The cascading opening melody of D’un vieux jardin is immediately inviting and full of endless possibilities. It inspired me to relocate Lili Boulanger’s ‘old garden’ from its ever-modulating Impressionistic style to sonically represent the typically bleak gardens in my own surroundings in Reykjavík. The harmony in the very first modulation in the third bar of Boulanger’s original is a goosebump-inducing moment, so much so that I felt inclined to hold back from introducing it until near the end of my rework. As the leaves fall to the ground, it becomes the one stubborn flower in the garden that is intent on surviving the winter and gives hope to those of us watching it.”
