Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,
One of the first questions we receive about our Essential Greeks Course is when the live webinar will take place. It’s an excellent question and I’m happy to announce we have the dates now available, below.
These live webinars are an opportunity to discuss the materials, meet with fellow students and a good goal post to keep on track.
It’s important to remember though that even if you can’t join us live, the recordings will be sent afterwards and we will keep up live discussion on the threads.
Our Welcome Webinar will take place on July 1st, 2024 at 10am EST (New York time). We will go over how the course works, discuss the course content, introduce some of the preliminary themes, and answer any and all questions from all our new students.
The Q&A with an expert will feature Ben Potter, the course creator and our resident Classicist, and will take place on July 17th, 2024 at Noon EST. We’ll delve into Homer and the tragedians and go over important ideas and questions from the first half of the course.
Our final closing webinar will be with Sean Kelly, our managing editor and Classicist in his own right, on August 12th at 1pm EST. We’ll conclude with a look at the historians and philosophers as well as some insights from the course as a whole.
So if you want to learn how to approach life like Socrates, have the perspective of Thucydides or insights of Aristotle, this is the course for you. Join us as we explore the life, philosophy, and literature of the Essential Greeks....
Essential Greeks Students: For those who have already registered for this year’s course, please note that we will send you the webinar registration links TOMORROW. They will also be sent the day of the webinar, so please keep a look out in your inbox.
All the best,

P.S. I love sharing what previous students have told us, because it is so heart warming… so I always try to add a few of their comments:
I really loved taking the ‘Essential Greeks’ course. It helped me get a better understanding of Ancient Greek literature, philosophy and history. For me, the course helped build a starting foundation in the classics. I thought the presentation was laid out nicely. I liked how they were placed chronologically and having the lecture videos divided for each section. Also, making the transcript available along with the accompanying book was fundamental. - Mark B.
I want to thank you for this awesome course. Preparing for it was a welcomed part of my day! Very enjoyable and relevant. The course provided a great overview of "the essential Greeks", without shortchanging their substantive contributions. George P.
I did start the course, and found it to be exceptional. These reminders are very helpful as well, keep them up. I have a similarly historically curious daughter that is also doing the course. We both appreciate you guys being there. Thanks, - Skip
