Diversity in Classical Music: The Chineke! Orchestra lives and breathes it! | Music Documentary

The Chineke! Orchestra is all about diversity in classical music - both in terms of musicians and repertoire. Chineke! is the only orchestra in Europe that has a majority of black musicians in its ranks. The British orchestra was founded in London in 2015 by Chi-chi Nwanoku in response to the double bass player's awareness that black musicians were being shut out of classical music. Chineke! is now established as an internationally renowned orchestra performing all over the world. Chineke! has served as a springboard to an international solo career for several black musicians including cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason and cellist Abel Selaocoe.
